The Los Angeles Football Club and midfielder Yaw Yeboah mutually agreed to part ways on Friday.
LAFC announced that the two-year deal Yeboah signed prior to last season, including a club option for 2027, was terminated effective immediately.
The 28-year-old midfielder from Accra, Ghana, has been on administrative leave from Major League Soccer since Oct. 25, pending a league review for potential violations of MLS rules.
Derrick Jones, a teammate of Yeboah’s with the Columbus Crew in 2024, was similarly placed on administrative leave.
The investigation remains ongoing, a representative for MLS confirmed this week.
Neither MLS nor LAFC addressed the scope of the inquiry.
A request for comment from Yeboah was not immediately returned.
Yeboah received $550,000 in guaranteed compensation during his first year with LAFC, scoring a goal to go with an assist in 17 MLS appearances. He had three short stints in FIFA Club World Cup contests plus a pair of starts in Leagues Cup.
The termination came after LAFC was approached about Yeboah by other clubs.
The move frees cap space as well as an international roster slot ahead of LAFC’s 2026 campaign, which begins Feb. 17 with CONCACAF Champions Cup action against Real España in Honduras.
