Kentucky is trying to build its first roster under new head coach Will Stein, and the Wildcats took another nice step in doing that on Friday afternoon by signing wide receiver Nic Anderson.
Anderson making Kentucky his latest SEC home was reported by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer. Kentucky signed Anderson after he decided to transfer from LSU on Wednesday, with Zenitz reporting that earlier this week after Anderson spent just one season in Baton Rouge. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Texas native played in 10 games for the Tigers in 2025 with minimal return, as he caught just 12 passes for 106 yards with 2 touchdowns.
But there is star potential with Anderson that attracted Stein and the Wildcats, because before that one quiet season at LSU, Anderson made a strong impression at Oklahoma. He has 12 career touchdown catches, with 10 of them coming during Anderson’s breakout season in 2023.

— Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) January 16, 2026Anderson spent his first 3 collegiate seasons at Oklahoma before he opted to head to LSU for the 2025 season. He played in 17 games during that 3-year run in Norman, which included that breakout 2023 season when Anderson was healthy.
He played in 13 games in 2023, hauling in 38 passes for 798 yards and those 10 touchdowns. Those stats were put up during the season before Oklahoma joined the SEC, but the point is that Anderson has shown he can compete at a high level, when he is healthy.
But since that 2023 season, Anderson has struggled to stay on the field. He was slowed by a quad injury in 2024, which wiped out his entire season at OU. That turned out to be his final season in Norman, as he transferred to LSU in 2025 with the hopes of getting back to his 2023 level. But it didn’t happen in Baton Rouge, with injuries once again getting in Anderson’s way.
Now, the former 4-star prize from the Class of 2022 is hoping to revive his collegiate career in Lexington under a brilliant offensive mind in Stein, who left Oregon to take the head coaching job at Kentucky.
