'90s EDM star Moby announced his 23rd studio album, Future Quiet, on January 16. The announcement comes after the release of a reworked version of the hit song "When It's Cold I'd Like To Die," which has been featured several times in the popular Netflix series Stranger Things.
The new album is set to release February 20 and, similar to his 2023 album Ambient 23, will take a more minimalist approach, focusing mainly on piano and soundscapes. The lead single, "When It's Cold I'd Like To Die", originally sung by Mimi Goese on the 1995 album Everything Is Wrong, has been reworked to fit the vocals of Jacob Lusk, front man for Gabriels.
“Like anyone who’s heard Jacob sing, I immediately fell in love with his voice. After hearing him sing on the radio, I spent weeks tracking him down and begging him to work with me. And, lucky me, he agreed," Moby said about the vocalist. "The results speak for themselves, as his vocals on ‘When It’s Cold I’d Like to Die’ are, I say with something approaching objectivity, transcendent.”

The album will consist of 14 tracks, including vocal performances from Jacob Lusk, Elise Serenelle, India Carney, and Serpentwithfeet. The album will be followed by a 2026 tour, which is expected to be announced soon.
