60s Classic Rock Band Announces the Sudden Passing of a Friend and Supporter

Classic rock band The Kinks are grieving a personal loss following the death of a good friend.

The British band emerged on the music scene in the 1960s, originally made up of brothers Ray Davies and Dave Davies, as well as Pete Quaife and Mick Avory.

    Taking to Instagram, the official account for The Kinks shared the band’s sad news.

    “The Kinks community is saddened to announce the sudden passing of friend & supporter Paul Endacott. Paul was the mastermind behind Music Heritage London and a huge champion of The Kinks, working tirelessly to widen their appeal by creating the very special The Kinks London Tours. The Kinks would like to send our condolences and sincere thanks to his family and friends. We’ll miss him - RIP Paul,” read the caption along with a photo of the band’s friend.

    Fans popped into the comments to express their condolences to the group. “Sending peaceful, healing light and vibrations to you all, his family and all of his loved ones. ??✨,” wrote a fan.

    One fan added, “RIP”, while several others let emojis for the band amid their personal loss.

    The Kinks are best known for their hits "You Really Got Me," "Waterloo Sunset," "Lola," and "Sunny Afternoon." In the 1960s, the guys were at the height of their fame, but they continued to make music throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

    However, it was the 1990s when The Kinks saw a resurgence in their music and fame, amid the height of the Britpop boom that took over the music world. Despite the resurfaced recognition, The Kinks still struggled and eventually broke up in 1996. Their final performance was at Dave Davies’ 50thbirthday party.

    The Kinks were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
