‘80s Pop Icon Announces Duet and 2026 Tour Dates With Rock Legend

Richard Marx’s new album, After Hours, not only features, “Young at Heart,” a duet with Rod Stewart, the pop icon will tour with the rock legend this summer.

“This time last year my wife Daisy [Fuentes] and I flew to London for Rod Stewart’s surprise 80th birthday party. Rod and his wife Penny [Lancaster] invited us to his home for dinner the next evening and we all had drinks prior at his local pub down the road. When I told him about my After Hours album he immediately said, ‘We should do a duet, Dickie.’ I thought it might be the Guinness talking but the next day he texted me, ‘I was serious about singing together. How about we do ‘Young at Heart?’” Marx recalled in a statement.

“Anyone who knows me knows Rod has been one of my lifelong heroes and becoming pals with him just in the last few years has meant the absolute world to me. The only thing possibly more amazing for me than finally getting to sing with him is that it was his idea,” he added.

“Young at Heart,” written by Johnny Richards and Carolyn Leigh, is the latest single from After Hours, Marx’s new album featuring a mix of songs from the Great American songbook along with songs written or co-written by Marx in the same style. Also making guest appearances on the album are Kenny G on “Big Band Boogie,” and acclaimed trumpet player Chris Botti on “All I Ever Needed.”  Marx’s wife, former MTV personality Daisy Fuentes, co-wrote the song “Magic Hour.”

Marx is also taking his collaboration with Stewart on the road. After his own tour of Australia, the “Right Here Waiting” singer will join Stewart on his One Last Time tour. Marx will also play headline dates at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colo. and at the London Palladium. Matt Scannell of Vertical Horizon will join Marx on select dates.

With 14 No. 1 hits to his credit either as a singer or songwriter/producer, Marx has had a long and storied career, despite one of his early employers, producer David Foster, telling him he’d never find success as a singer. “One day he said, ‘You might be a big producer and win a Grammy over me, but you’re never going to make it as a singer,'” Marx told me in an interview for The Billboard Book of Number One Albums. “It was like having your father tell you you’re ugly. It totally devastated me.”
