UPDATE: 1/15/26 at 5:50 p.m. EST — Teen Mom’s Farrah Abraham is setting the record straight on her political ambitions.
“I’m running for Austin City Council District 5 because our city has lost balance — we’ve gone soft on crime, driven up prices and left working families like mine struggling to keep up. Enough is enough,” Abraham, 34, said in a statement to Us Weekly on Thursday, January 15, via her rep at KN Productions Media Group. “I’ve faced Hollywood drama, cancel culture and online trolls and I’m still here — ready to fight for Austin families who don’t have lobbyists or insider access. I’m here for the everyday parents juggling jobs, school runs and dreams. It’s time for a survivor mom who knows how to hustle and make real change.”
Earlier in the day, Abraham announced she was running for mayor and shared her platform with followers. Despite changing races, her vision for Austin remains the same.

Farrah Abraham Shares Update on Estranged Relationship With Her Parents
On January 7, The Hills alum Spencer Pratt announced he is running for mayor of Los Angeles one year after losing his home in Pacific Palisades, California.
“Over the past year, I have been on a journey for truth and I have seen how power operates in our state and in our city. Leadership is a closed circle reserved for the elite and their benefactors; and the insiders seem shocked, even insulted, that an outsider like me would even dare to challenge the status quo,” Pratt said in a statement. “But we live in a city of hopes and dreams, where a reality TV personality is the Average Joe. Why shouldn’t City Hall be open to people from all walks of life, including a TV personality like me.”
The Guy You Loved to Hate: Confessions From a Reality TV Villain author reiterated his goals in his cover story for Us sharing, “Winning the mayor’s race will be a victory for truth and transparency, which is what I’ve been fighting for this whole year. The end goal is the same: to shine a light into the darkness.”
