Norwegian Cruise Line is officially entering its glow-up era—and it’s arriving in the form of Norwegian Aura, the Prima Class’ biggest, brightest ship yet and the line’s most ambitious build to date. Open for booking now and debuting in May 2027, the new megaship is designed to feel less like a floating hotel and more like a choose-your-own-adventure vacation at sea.
At nearly 1,130 feet long, Norwegian Aura is now the longest ship in the fleet and is 10 percent larger than its Prima Class siblings, Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. It’s built with families, friend groups and multigenerational trips very much in mind. Think: big energy by day, laid-back vibes by night and plenty of space to spread out in between.
Its standout attraction is Ocean Heights—an open-air activity complex spanning four decks that packs in the most slides of any NCL ship, a towering ropes course, rock climbing wall, mini golf, carnival games and even overhanging cabanas with ocean views. Yes, cabanas. Overhanging. At sea.
Like an open-concept home, the walls are gone, the spaces flow into one another and everyone can be together—or apart—without disappearing behind a door. It's an addition Stewart Chiron, better known as The Cruise Guy, thinks is a smart move. "Teens often skip traditional teen clubs and prefer flexible, shared spaces near their families—and Aura’s more open-concept design reflects that shift."

The ship will homeport in Miami starting June 2027, sailing seven-day Caribbean itineraries with stops at NCL favorites like Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye. And Great Stirrup Cay is getting a major upgrade just in time, with a massive lagoon-style pool, adults-only beach club and a nearly six-acre waterpark opening ahead of Aura’s arrival.
Back onboard, Norwegian Aura doubles down on outdoor living. Ocean Boulevard—the wraparound promenade—has been expanded with more hot tubs, seating and kid-and-teen zones, while the pool deck is now the largest in the fleet. There’s also a bigger Vibe Beach Club for adults who prefer their sun with a side of serenity.
Luxury travelers aren’t left out either. The Haven by Norwegian has more suites than ever before, complete with private elevators, a secluded sundeck, infinity pool and round-the-clock butler service. It’s giving boutique hotel… floating in the Caribbean.

Even the ship’s exterior makes a statement. Norwegian Aura’s hull art, designed by artist Rosie Woods, draws inspiration from bioluminescent seas—meaning this ship is literally designed to shine.
"Norwegian Aura represents the evolution of Norwegian Cruise Line and the celebration of bringing together families, friends and travelers from around the world," said Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltdin a statement.
"With brilliance and connection at her core, the ship was created to give all guests the freedom to vacation their very own way–offering the chance to exhale, connect and effortlessly escape into the moment. We look forward to this next milestone and can’t wait for guests to experience all that Norwegian Aura has to offer.”
Norwegian Aura isn’t just a new ship—it’s a signal of where cruising is headed next: bigger, brighter and built for how people actually want to vacation now.
