The Town of Chapel Hill has debuted a new logo and town website, chapelhillnc.gov. The new logo depicts a stylized tulip poplar on rolling hills.
“With this new website, we’ve created a more user-friendly experience for all who visit our site,” said Susan Brown, the town’s Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement. “Data shows that most often folks come to our site to complete tasks and find services. Now, the most requested tasks and most used services are front and center on our homepage.”
While the new site is live, the town says it will continue to be a “work in progress” as staff email addresses are updated with the new domain and more content is added, curated and edited.
The town says the new logo featuring the tulip poplar represents “both our community’s growth as well as our roots.” The town worked with Carrboro Creative design firm to create the new logo and branding.
“This brand serves connection, awareness, and trust with the community members we serve,” said Brown.
The tulip poplar logo replaces the former town seal which depicted Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. It had been officially adopted by the Chapel Hill Town Council in 2005, though the design had been in use since the 1930s.
