WEBSTER, N.Y. — The Webster Thomas Titans and Webster Schroeder Warriors varsity hockey teams joined forces for the first time to host a Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Wednesday. The event took place at the Webster Ice Arena with the theme “One Night, One Cause, One Check, One Community.”
All proceeds from the event were set to benefit the American Cancer Society. Last year, the Titans raised more than $1,600 for cancer research and support.
“Our motto in Webster is ‘One Webster,'” said Kristen Johnson, a Webster Schroeder special education teacher. “We are one of the only teams in section 5 that has two teams, we didn’t have to combine the high schools to create a team, so we thought, what better way to enable that one Webster feeling and motto than to come together and fight cancer?”
