Edwards was carted off the field in the second quarter of Saturday’s 31-27 win over the Green Bay Packers, and he was quickly diagnosed with a fractured fibula after X-rays, according to the team.
The injury will keep him out for the remainder of the postseason, but it’s unknown whether the injury will also put the start of the 2026 season in jeopardy.
Trapilo, who limped off the field in the fourth quarter of the game, suffered a patellar tendon injury in his knee, and will also miss the remainder of the playoffs, the team said.
In corresponding roster moves, the Bears announced that they had activated offensive lineman Braxton Jones from injured reserve, and they also signed linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin to their active roster.
Jones has been out of action throughout the month of December, and he’ll likely fit into a reserve role on the Bears’ offensive line with Trapilo done for the year. In all likelihood, Theo Benedet will slide into the left tackle role, and will play a pivotal role for the Bears as they try to advance to their first NFC Championship Game since 2011.
Reeves-Maybin has appeared in three regular season games for the Bears and also dressed for Saturday’s game against the Packers, registering two combined tackles and a quarterback hit in the game.
The Bears and Los Angeles Rams will square off Sunday at 5:30 p.m., with the game airing on NBC.
