A documentary film chronicling Elvis Presley's live performances in the early 1970s made a spectacular debut at Graceland.
EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert features long-lost footage of the legendary singer's Las Vegas residency in 1970, as well as remastered 16mm footage from the 1972 film Elvis On Tour and 8mm film from the Graceland archives. The documentary fittingly made its debut at the place Elvis called home, with two showings for press, fans, family, and friends, on what would have been Presley's 91st birthday, January 8, 2026.
The film chronicles this titular era of Presley's career, capturing him at his best, performing in front of a live audience. Segments where the King of Rock and Roll rehearses for his upcoming residency pull back the curtain on the entertainer, showing his sense of humor, work ethic, and close relationship with his band members and backup singers.
EPiC was introduced via a prerecorded message from director Baz Luhrmann, whose connection to the King of Rock and Roll continues. He was the director, co-producer, and co-writer of the 2022 film Elvis, starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks as Presley and his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Luhrmann told theatergoers the documentary was a "little treat" for Presley's birthday, and that they were "some of the first people on the planet" to see the completed film.

Throughout its 96-minute runtime, EPiC gives viewers unprecedented access to Presley’s inner circle. The documentary reintroduces fans to the man behind the jumpsuits and headlines, revealing that he remained a deeply passionate and devoted performer, a loyal friend, and a surprisingly humble and grounded individual despite his fame.
This reimagined look at the King of Rock and Roll, told entirely in his own voice, paints a fuller picture of the entertainer than ever before. From behind-the-scenes moments on tour to private moments at Graceland, viewers see a side of Presley that he rarely displayed publicly. The film captures his humor, generosity, and dedication to his craft, offering fans a glimpse of the man who continues to inspire generations of performers.
Luhrmann told Deadline of the project, “There has always been talk amongst Elvis’ fans, both longtime fans and newer fans brought in by our film Elvis, of missing reels and never-before-seen concert footage. During the making of Elvis, from very early on in my process, I had the privilege to access the studio’s vaults deep in the salt mines of Kansas, where troves of old film negatives are stored."
He continued, "We were astonished by the sheer volume of unused footage from Elvis: That’s the Way It Is, the film of Elvis’ legendary 1970 Summer Festival in Las Vegas – all shot on anamorphic 35mm – and also from Elvis’s road concert film from two years later, Elvis on Tour. "
EPiC's world premiere took place at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2025. The film opens in IMAX on Feb. 20 and one week later, will hit theaters for a general release.
