CAIRO, Jan 13 (MENA) — Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed the importance the Egyptian government attaches to empowering the private sector, attracting more foreign direct investment, and supporting foreign companies operating in Egypt.
This came during a meeting held Tuesday between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Terje Pilskog, CEO of the Norwegian company Scatec, within the framework of strengthening economic cooperation between Egypt and Norway in the field of renewable energy.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized during the meeting the importance of building on the outcomes of the visit of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, to Norway in December 2024, and working to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed the efforts undertaken by the Egyptian government to support the green economy and the ongoing endeavors to transform Egypt into a global hub for the production of green hydrogen, stressing that Scatec’s projects are in line with the Egyptian state’s orientation in this regard.
He affirmed Egypt’s full support for the Norwegian company’s projects in Egypt, which contribute to strengthening economic and investment relations between the two countries. The latest of these is the “Obelisk” solar power generation project in the city of Nagaa Hammadi in Qena Governorate, where Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, attended the inauguration of the first phase of the project Monday.
He also stressed the importance of working to increase the volume of the company’s investments in the Egyptian market, moving forward with the implementation of projects to export clean electricity to Europe, and studying opportunities for trilateral cooperation in the African continent to implement development projects, particularly in the field of renewable energy.
