Operation Search & Help will launch its inaugural 2026 Coffee Tour on Friday at High Octane, 890 N. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown.
This outreach initiative is designed to connect with local residents over a free cup of coffee while raising awareness about the services the organization provides to families across Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The Coffee Tour aims to bring the community together in a welcoming, accessible way, according to a news release from the organization.
At each stop, guests will be invited to enjoy free coffee and learn how Operation Search & Help supports children and young adults up to age 21 with special needs, behavioral health challenges and chronic medical conditions through last-dollar financial assistance.
“Operation Search & Help has been part of this community since 1974, yet many families who could benefit from our support don’t realize we are here,” said Shari Nesbitt, grant manager for Operation Search & Help. “By meeting residents where they are, and offering a warm cup of coffee, we hope to share who we are, what we do and how we can help.”
The tour will conclude May 20 at Culture House Coffee Co., Elm Street, Youngstown.
Each event provides an opportunity for families to learn about financial assistance available for medication costs, therapy copays, specialized equipment and other essential needs that support the well-being of children in their care.
Operation Search & Help is funded by the Hine Memorial Fund, which is administered by The Youngstown Foundation, with program oversight provided by the Potential Development Program. It is committed to closing financial gaps for families navigating complex medical or behavioral health care needs.
Some of the areas the organization helps fund are medication and alternative therapies; medical equipment and supplies; specialized formulas; reimbursement for gas and incidental costs to out-of-town medical appointments; speech, occupational and physical therapy; mental health treatment fees; and health and safety needs.
