Hollywood heartthrob Timothée Chalamet took home his first Golden Globe award on Sunday night for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for his role in Marty Supreme.
The 30-year-old actor’s win caps a long awards journey, having previously been nominated for films such as Call Me By Your Name, Beautiful Boy, and Wonka without a win.
Chalamet’s performance as Marty Mauser, a spirited table-tennis player chasing world championship dreams, has been widely praised for its emotional depth and physicality.
“My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up, always be grateful for what you have,” Chalamet said during his acceptance speech. “I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this moment that much sweeter.”

Kevin O’Leary Shares Behind-the-Scenes Stories
Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary, who co-starred in Marty Supreme as wealthy mentor Milton Rockwell, shared his excitement and pride over Chalamet’s Golden Globe win.
“Seeing Timothée take home the Golden Globe was a proud moment for everyone involved in this film,” O’Leary wrote on Instagram. “I’m grateful to have worked with such a talented, fearless group of people who believed in the story and committed fully to it. Congratulations Timothy Chalamet. The recognition is well earned.”

So it’s really easy to rip him to pieces no problem,” O’Leary said on the red carpet. “That guy, his blind ambition, he just runs over everybody. He just bulled everybody down. So for me, it was easy to go after him, and I really enjoyed the moments we had together.”
The pair filmed intense and unusual scenes, including a sequence in which O’Leary’s character hits Chalamet’s character with a ping-pong paddle.
“They say Chalamet’s hot, well, his rear end was radiating heat,” O’Leary quipped. “I must have belted him 20 times until finally Josh said, ‘Look, you’re not doing it enough. Wind up and do one so we can get a shot of his face.’”
Directed by Josh Safdie and co-written by Ronald Bronstein, Marty Supreme follows Mauser as he navigates both the highs and lows of competitive ping-pong, drawing inspiration from real-life table-tennis legend Marty Reisman. The film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler the Creator, Odessa A’zion, Abel Ferrara and Fran Drescher, and has earned over $84 million worldwide.“I’d be stunned if I didn’t thank Kevin. I’ve been very grateful,” Chalamet said, earning laughter and applause from the audience when giving a shoutout to the Shark Tank star.
