As the music world bands together to mourn the loss of one of the greats, Paul Sidoti, the lead guitarist of Taylor Swift's band, is sharing a heartfelt moment he once shared with the late Bob Weir.
The longtime member of Swift's band took to Instagram not long after news broke of Weir's death, sharing a pair of snapshots taken over a decade ago, during the "Style" songstress' stop at the Staples Center during the 1989 World Tour, where he posed with the legendary Grateful Dead artist outside of the venue, after being caught completely off guard by one of Weir's two daughters.
A Chance Encounter With a Young Fan Led to Sidoti Meeting the Rock Legend
Sidoti shared that as he was leaving the arena, he heard a young girl screaming his name. He paused to sign her homemade shirt and pose for a photo before she called over her father—none other than the late Weir.
"I couldn’t believe it," he admitted in the caption, reminiscing on the 20-minute-long conversation they shared. "He said some really kind things..." He even gave Sidoti his phone number and invited the guitarist and his wife to visit him in California, "to explore the finer wines of the area."
Unfortunately, life did as life does, and the couple never got the chance. But, as Sidoti said, "the invitation was just as nice."
"Thank you Bob for leaving an indelible mark on the world of music," Sidoti concluded.
