South Carolina added a potentially significant asset to its offense Sunday, as former Penn State running back Jabree Coleman reportedly committed to the Gamecocks.
On3 reported that Coleman chose South Carolina over Auburn and West Virginia, and will be reunited with former Nittany Lions assistant Stan Drayton – who coached Coleman as a true freshman in 2025. Coleman did not play for Penn State in 2025 and will have four years of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot, 209-pound Coleman starred at Imhotep Charter (Penn.) in 2024, rushing for 1,135 yards and 15 touchdowns while catching 13 passes for 122 yards and another score in his senior season. He also rushed for 1,610 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2023. He was the No. 35-ranked running back in the class of 2025 according to 247Sports Composite.
South Carolina now has five running backs on the roster heading into 2026, as Coleman joins returners Matt Fuller, Jawarn Howell and Isaiah Augustave.
The Gamecocks went 4-8 in 2025 and struggled throughout the season on offense, leading head coach Shane Beamer‘s firing of offensive coordinator Mike Shula.
