ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The end of the weekend has been punctuated by bursts of wind and lake snow. However, it is expected that improvement will come in our weather for the start of the week. First, any lingering lake snow showers will taper off and come to an end for this Sunday evening. Second, the strong gusty winds will slowly diminish through tonight into Monday. After a period of about 72 hours, another arctic front will cross the area starting late Wednesday. This will bring another round of bitter cold and accumulating snow for Wednesday night and Thursday.
Tonight, look for flurries and snow showers to come to an end by mid-evening. The gusty winds will keep the wind chill in the middle teens, and the low temperature will be in the upper 20s. Monday brings mainly gray skies and with the exception of a few flurries it should be a mainly dry day. Winds will slowly diminish through Monday afternoon with the high temperature in the middle 30s. Tuesday will feature a few breaks of sunshine as the temperature will moderate into the lower 40s.
Wednesday will start in the 40s, then turn sharply colder by evening with bitter cold air arriving and remaining through Thursday. This will bring another opportunity for accumulating snow for Wednesday night into Thursday.
