Texas has been making headlines with some eye-popping transfer-portal additions thus far this cycle, but those moves have at times forced other athletes to find greener pastures away from Austin.
With Sunday’s addition of Cam Coleman being the latest example of Steve Sarkisian & Co. hitting the portal to beef up their receiving corps, the Longhorns also lost a prized prospect at the same time.
Freshman wide receiver Jaime Ffrench recently announced his intentions to transfer, and the Jacksonville native has opted to play for new head coach Kyle Whittingham and Michigan next season, per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz’s reports.

— Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) January 11, 2026Ffrench was rated a 4-star prospect by 247Sports coming out of high school, as the 6-foot-1, 185 lb. receiver was rated the No. 9 overall receiver in the 2025 class.
But Ffrench was rarely able to see the field for Texas this past season, as he tallied just 1 catch for 6 yards during the team’s win over Sam Houston on Sept. 20.
With Bryce Underwood having recently agreed to return to Ann Arbor next year, it’s clear that the Wolverines are making a concerted effort to strengthen his potential targets as the program searches to bounce back from the dark days of the Sherrone Moore era.
