The initial cut of Ben Johnson’s “Good, Better, Best” postgame speech was good. The extended cut was better. But the Caleb Williams speech was the absolute best part of it all.
What a moment for QB1 and his coach:

— Bleacher Nation Bears (@BN_Bears) January 11, 2026Words from Caleb Williams in a 2-minute, 13-second clip that I’m sure will be played and referenced myriad times in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead:
“I said last night that you make your money in the regular season, but in the postseason, legacy, your name, everything. That’s us. That’s not me. That’s us. Us. I want to keep this (expletive deleted) going. We have to (expleteive deleted) get better. WE have to start. We have to be on the details. WE have to execute, penalties, all of that, to be able to get where we want to go. And I want to be here and I want to do this with y’all.
Fifteen years they said. Haven’t beaten Green Bay since whatever. Look at this guy right here. Everything he’s done for us as a coach, everything the other coaches have done for us. And it started with him with bring it in. And for me personally, he’s been monumental in my life so far, and so, to his first playoff win as a Chicago Bear head coach…”
The way my jaw dropped while watching that video. What a raw, emotional moment. Delivered by a Bears quarterback. Who knew Caleb Williams had that in him? NFL locker room access is sacred. So, I am exponentially thankful that the Bears video team was allowed to share that bit of behind-the-scenes footage.

If you came into this year wondering what the working relationship betwen Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams would look like, I think you have your answer. If you ever doubted Caleb Williams’ talent, I think his performances against the Packers tell you everything you want or need to know. If you read that Ty Dunne piece (don’t say I didn’t warn ya, because I did) and had doubts about Caleb Williams’ ability to lead a team, hearing him in that speech with his teammates egging him on to get emotional should remove all doubts about that aspect of his game.
I CAN’T STOP WATCHING THAT CALEB WILLIAMS THROW
I was having a discussion with a friend in the wee hours of this morning about last night’s game (as one does after the most significant win in Bears playoff history in my lifetime) and he hit me with something deep. “Intangibles are a thing,” he said. And it hit me how Caleb has that dawg in him, which led me to understand why Tom Brady capes for Chicago’s QB1 on FOX broadcasts.

Brady’s relationship with Williams reminds me of the connection that Ahmad Rashad had with Michael Jordan. Just like Ahmad had access to a different side of MJ that the public couldn’t see, Brady has a similar connection with Williams. And now, we have some video evidence that colors in some spots that were previously left blank.
And to think, this could be just the beginning for Caleb Williams. Winning in your playoff debut isn’t something every quarterback does. And doing it the way Williams did is certainly unlike anything we have seen from a Bears quarterback in the past. Hence, this one feels different. I can’t wait until the next one.
