Beloved Country Icon Forced to Cancel Upcoming Performance Due to Injury

Crystal Gayle has been forced to cancel her upcoming overseas appearance due to an injury that prevents her from traveling such long distances.

The country music icon, 75, was scheduled to head across the pond this week for the Your Roots Are Showing conference in Ireland. She was also slated to perform a few songs as part of the FOLK iN FUSION: Nashville to Belfast opening concert at Waterfront Hall in Belfast on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

However, it has been revealed via a press release that Gayle has suffered a torn meniscus in her knee. Though she is currently on the mend, the legendary Grand Ole Opry member’s medical team has not yet cleared her for the road. Doctors have, instead, advised her to refrain from going on any trips as she focuses on her recovery.

Even though the Grammy-winning artist and sister of the late icon Loretta Lynn has been faced with health-related travel limitations, she admits that while she has had to bow out of her upcoming arrangements, her absence doesn’t come without regret.

The Country Star Released a Statement to Her Fans

“I was truly looking forward to coming to Belfast—singing a few songs, sharing some stories, and spending time with everyone,” Gayle said in a statement provided by her publicist. “But my doctor tells me this knee isn’t ready for those overseas miles just yet.”

The “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” singer, who celebrated her 75th birthday on Jan. 9th, went on to say that she will “make it up” to fans at a later date.

“I promise I’ll be ‘Ready for the Times to Get Better’—just not at 30,000 feet next week,” she added. “Thank you for your understanding, and I hope we can make it up to you soon.”

Ticket holders and attendees for the event can refer to their original point of purchase and conference channels for more information regarding the conference.
