Two of the longest-tenured Colorado football players will no longer be with the Buffaloes.
On Saturday, safety Carter Stoutmire and receiver/cornerback Isaiah Hardge put their names into the NCAA transfer portal.
Stoutmire and Hardge spent the past three seasons at CU with head coach Deion Sanders and they were the last remaining players from the Buffs’ 2023 signing class. All 21 players signed, either out of high school or junior college, that offseason have now moved on from CU.
Of the 113 players on the 2023 roster, only five remain. All five were walk-ons in 2023, although safety Ben Finneseth has since been put on scholarship.
A 5-foot-11, 210-pound safety, Stoutmire has known Sanders his entire life. His father, Omar , played with Sanders in the NFL and the families are still close, but the younger Stoutmire is seeking an opportunity elsewhere.
During his three seasons at CU, Stoutmire played in 30 games, with 15 starts. He started seven of eight games this past season, missing four games with an injury. He had 38 tackles and five pass breakups this year. He had 42 tackles and seven pass breakups in 2024, and 11 tackles in 2023.
