After eight years playing Disneyland's Evil Queen, the cast member who went viral bringing her to life has left the character behind.
Sabrina Von B. has put her crown and poisoned apple aside for good, but will be remembered by many for her lively take on the Snow White character.
“It was a dream getting to do my own spin on a character that really wasn't popular or viral or well-known before videos of me really started going around," Von B. told People. "I read a lot of comments about people saying they would've never loved this character, but now it is their favorite character."
"That really was an honor to be able to bring a Disney villain to life, and also not be evil, but put a more comical spin on it and create joy for people and make people smile, all while being a villain, was very rewarding," she continued.
Disney parks guests frequently posted their interactions with the Evil Queen on social media over the years. In 2019, she went viral for the first time, and Good Morning America re-posted the video a park guest had taken. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of videos of her Evil Queen online. The videos showcase everything from her epic insults to her most hilarious moments.
“The virality and all the videos and people loving the content have always just made me feel really honored that I get to make people love such an iconic character and that I feel like what I'm doing is making a difference and putting a smile on people's faces," Von B admitted. "I'm very grateful that those videos live on, on the internet. It was surreal then. It is surreal now, and I really will never live down that feeling for sure."
At Halloween, rumors began circulating that the Evil Queen was at risk of dismissal after guests claimed they were offended by her remarks. A couple of months later, Von B. posted a TikTok video revealing that she had played the character. Fans quickly realized that, if she was sharing her identity, she must have left her position at Disneyland. Even so, Von B. has said she is "very flattered" and "happy" to have played the role and to have had an impact on Disney guests.
“Now I'm learning how to live outside of the mouse, and I am super excited for what is next in my career," she said.
