Damascus, Jan 10 (SANA) European Council President António Costa affirmed that his visit to Syria, alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, one year after the fall of the deposed regime, reflects the European Union’s continued support for the country’s reconstruction efforts.
In a post on the X platform Saturday, Costa wrote: “We encourage and urge you to continue working with the utmost speed and seriousness for a peaceful and inclusive Syria.”
President Ahmad al-Sharaa received Costa, von der Leyen, and their accompanying delegation on Friday at the People’s Palace in Damascus, in the presence of Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shibani.
