The Mad About You star, 62, who started her career as a child actress in a guest role on The Facts of Life and in the beloved movie Girls Just Want to Have Fun, rose to fame as Jamie Buchman on the beloved NBCsitcom alongside comedian Paul Reiser. She went on to tremendous success in her film career with blockbusters like Twister and critically acclaimed films like As Good as It Gets alongside Jack Nicholson and Greg Kinnear, for which she won an Academy Award in 1998. In the last decade, Hunt has focused primarily on directing, but fans like us were thrilled to see her back on the screen as the powerful network executive Winnie Landell on the third season of the HBO comedy hit Hacks.
Also a passionate lover of travel, Hunt chronicles her steps across the world on her Instagram account. In her latest journey, the blonde beauty headed to New Orleans, where she did everything from eating oysters and checking out art museums to hanging out on the street with the local musicians.
"I just keep eating oysters. So fun to be here," Hunt captioned the photo series, which showed her in a makeup-free selfie on the New Orleans streets.

Last month, Hunt was in Europe at the Basílica de la Sagrada Família in Barcelona. Peering into the camera in a fun selfie, she smiled with the Basilica, which is the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world, sitting behind her.

“It felt impossible not to internalize the way you’re supposed to look,” Hunt shared with Flow Space about the ’90s and early aughts. “And [there was] a certain amount of misery and shame around not looking exactly that way.”
At some point, however, “I realized, ‘This could quietly ruin your whole life,’” Hunt continued. “I made a decision: I’m not playing. Not gonna [let it] take up a lot of space in my mind.”
Hunt said she credits the book, The Only Diet There Is, by Sondra Ray, as something that helped her develop a healthy relationship with food in a time when celebrities are constantly body-shamed.
“What I took from it,” she added, “is eat what you want and love every bite, period.”
What’s Next for Helen Hunt?
Next year, Hunt is heading across the pond to make her Royal Shakespeare Company debut in Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, Deadline reported back in September.
Hunt told Deadline that she has “imagined” the RSC as her “sort of a North Star my whole life.”
She’ll appear alongside Kenneth Branagh in director Tamara Harvey’s production, and said the chance to take the job “was sort of wheeled to my front door, like a giant delicious layer cake. It had this beautiful play of all plays at the bottom. It had the RSC, it had on top of that Tamara, who I immediately adored, and then this weather system of talent in the body of Kenneth Branagh. … I looked over my shoulder thinking, ‘I just get to do this?!’
