Your Party is considering whether to report the launch of an unauthorised membership portal by Zarah Sultana to the police.
The socialist party was founded by the former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and the ex-Labour MP.
In September, the Peace and Justice Project (PJP) – another left-wing organisation set up by Corbyn – referred Your Party to the Information Commissioner’s Office over a potential data breach.
Sultana launched a membership portal that month, with an email sent to the 800,000 people on Your Party’s mailing list inviting them to become paying members for £55.
Corbyn said the website had been created without his approval and was a “false membership system” collecting money and data without the authorisation of the PJP, which was Your Party’s data controller.
On Friday, the New Statesman reported that the ICO had advised PJP to consider going to the police and Action Fraud.
According to the New Statesman, the ICO said it would not proceed with its own investigation, but that the police and Action Fraud could determine whether the actions amounted to criminal activity.
The i Paper understands that no referral has been made to the police, with legal advice being sought about next steps.
A spokesperson for the ICO said: “After reviewing the information provided, we have assessed that formal ICO involvement is not required at this time”.
In a statement posted on X, Sultana said: “I have been informed that the ICO has dropped the case around the Your Party membership portal.

“I always anticipated that this inquiry would conclude with no further action and I am pleased that everyone can now draw a line under the matter.
“Like many members of Your Party, I am looking forward to campaigning for a Central Executive Committee (CEC) that breaks decisively from Labour right tactics, gives power to members and local branches, and helps build a mass movement for socialism.
“I will continue working closely with Jeremy and comrades across the movement to build on our 60,000 members — the largest socialist party in the UK since the 1940s. Let’s get to work.”
