Chaka Khan, the beloved singer-songwriter who initially rose to fame in the late 1970s and 1980s, issued a warning for fans on Jan. 8 to watch out for fake and AI-generated stories on the internet.
The 72-year-old declared on Instagram, "Chaka & her team want to remind everyone to be cautious about fake, AI-generated 'news' circulating on Facebook and elsewhere. These stories are not real."
"If it isn’t coming directly from Chaka’s official social channels or ChakaKhan.com, it shouldn’t be trusted," the statement went on, going into detail about the places where fans can get trustworthy information about Khan. It is later mentioned that she has an official newsletter on her website that fans can sign up for to get any news.
The note concluded, "Please don’t click, comment on, or share those posts. Any interaction only helps scammers spread them further."
Khan's warning was accompanied by a moody photo of the singer from a photoshoot with Interview magazine.

"I blocked those pages there quite a few for Jackson and others," said another, noting that other musical artists are dealing with the same issue.
Others chimed in, saying, "Chaka calling out ai is another reason I can’t help but Stan," and "Good to know ?."
Some fans simply stopped by the comments to praise Khan, writing, "Showing out ????," "I want this picture on my wall," and "Girl look like time hasn’t passed form you ? beautiful woman."
While the "I'm Every Woman" singer took time out of her busy schedule to make sure fans knew to be wary, Khan has a lot to be excited about these days.
It was announced in December 2025 that Khan will be receiving the 2026 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at the end of January in a special ceremony, adding the award to her already impressive 10 Grammy Awards.
She has certainly made her mark on the music industry with her long-lasting career, and back in 2023, she was finally inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the Musical Excellence category after being nominated seven times.
