An experienced Georgia defensive back is looking at using his final season of college eligibility elsewhere.
Joenel Aguero told Hayes Fawcett of On3 that he is entering the NCAA transfer portal. Aguero played in 36 games over 3 seasons with Kirby Smart‘s Bulldogs.

A Massachusetts native, Aguero was a sought-after prospect out of St. John’s Prep. An Under Armour All-American, Aguero was rated 4-stars, the No. 2 player in Massachusetts, No. 3 safety and No. 37 prospect overall in the Class of 2023 on the 247Sports Composite. He chose Georgia over Florida, Ohio State, Miami and others in his initial recruitment.
As a true freshman, Aguero saw action in 12 games during the 2023 season. He logged 7 tackles, including 5 solo stops, and blocked a punt.
Aguero made 5 starts during the 2024 season, his sophomore year. Over 11 appearances, he recorded 26 total tackles with 1.5 TFLs.
This past season, Aguero solidified a starting role. He was a starter in 12 of 13 appearances, logging 39 tackles with 22 solo stops. He had a career-high 7 tackles against Tennessee, also snagging an interception in the rivalry win.
