2026 FIU Sprint Invite (Women Only)
January 3, 2026 Doral Aquatic Center – Doral, FL SCY (25 yards) Teams: FIU, North Texas, Concordia University – St. Paul, Wisconsin (dive only), Georgia Southern (dive only), Saint Joseph’s College – Maine ResultsThe Florida International University women’s team kicked off 2026 with an early victory, winning their eighth consecutive FIU Sprint Invite with 571 points on Saturday.
The competition turned into a battle between FIU and North Texas, as the Mean Green claimed the runner-up spot with 539 points, just 32 points behind FIU and over 200 points ahead of Concordia.
The women-only meet brought together six teams from around the country for a fast-paced competition that featured the 50-yard sprint events in a knockout-style format. The top eight swimmers from the opening round advanced, eventually culminating in a head-to-head final in each event.
Following the 50s of stroke, athletes competed in the normal formats of the 100s of stroke, 100 IM, 200 free and the 1- and 3-meter diving events.
FIU freshman Pauline Zeller shone in her events on Saturday, winning the 50 fly (25.98) and 100 IM (58.56). She also took the runner-up spot in the 50 back (26.08) and 100 fly (57.41), bringing home extra points for the Panthers.
Teammate Diana Santamaria also delivered several top performances for FIU. The junior prevailed in the 50 back (25.41), took 2nd in the 50 free (24.21) and 100 IM (59.32 – PB), and placed 3rd in the 100 back (1:01.86).
North Texas did its best to chase down FIU, racking up seven victories over the course of the meet. Senior Kayleigh Lovell was a significant contributor, posting two victories in the 100 free (53.91) and 200 free (1:58.63).
The Mean Green won all of three 100s of stroke: Vivian Anderson prevailed in the 100 back (59.28), Jette Schindler took home the title in the 100 fly (57.38) and Mikaela Goelst walked away with the 100 breast (1:06.43).
Goelst also won the 50 breast, helping North Texas to a 1-2 finish in the event as she touched first in 29.61 while teammate Maria Jose Sanchez Castro took 2nd in 30.26.
Other Notable Results
Concordia picked up its sole victory of the meet courtesy of Sophie Leo, who won the 50 free in 24.17. She edged out Santamaria by just .04 to claim the title for the Golden Bears. North Texas’s Sydney Guidara won the 1-meter diving event with 285.75 points, over 35 points ahead of runner-up Ruska Lehtonen (249.70) of FIU. Ryane Neal of Wisconsin prevailed on the 3-meter, posting a score of 267.30 points to narrowly edge out Georgia Southern’s Karlee Wells (267.15) by just .15.Final Team Scores
