Iron Maiden Founder Reveals the Throwback Song Hes Dying to Play Live Again

Iron Maiden bassist and founder Steve Harris, 69, admits it's near impossible to cover all of the hits he wants to play during one concert, but there is one song that he's dying to add back to the legendary rock band's setlist.

“I like them all! It’s hard to pick one," he said when asked by Metal Hammer which song he's really hankering to play live again. "There’s certain songs like 'The Evil That Men Do' that aren’t already in the set and I’d like to play."

Does that mean concertgoers in 2026 will have the chance to hear it live? Probably not just yet. "We’ve bandied the ideas around and not ended up playing them this time," he said.

Harris is gearing up for the second half of the band's Run For Your Lives 50th anniversary tour, which features hits from the band's first nine albums. He will take the stage along with singer Bruce Dickinson, guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Janick Gers, and drummer Nicko McBrain.

While the single from 1988’s Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son album didn't make the cut, they did pull several songs out of retirement for the first half of the tour in 2025, including "Killers," "Murders In The Rue Morgue," "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner," "The Clairvoyant," and "Seventh Son."

“It’s difficult to do a set from any part of our career [and not miss things out]," the bassist, who founded Iron Maiden in 1975, admitted. "It’s a nice problem to have, I suppose.”

Iron Maiden will kick off the second run of their European tour in May 2026 and play there through July before heading to the Americas from August through November.
