Florida State notched 30 wins on the Seminoles’ senior day, where 16 seniors were recognized to down the visiting Wildcats of Villanova. The Florida State men emerged victorious 261-59, and the women followed suit, winning 205-114.

    Women’s Recap

    Seminole senior Julia Mansson picked up three breaststroke wins on the day, winning the 50 breast (27.99), 100 breast (1:01.51), and the 200 breast (2:13.80).

    Alice Velden (24.39), Martina Fanunza (28.25), Maryn McDade (23.48), and Mary Leigh Hardman (22.65) kicked off the scoring for the Seminole women, winning the 200 medley relay in 1:38.77.

    Senior Julia Brzozowski earned the 1000 free win for Florida State in 10:02.14, she finished just over two seconds ahead of Villanova’s Katie White in 10:04.82.

    McDade nabbed the 50 fly win in 23.71. She later added another individual win in the 50 free, touching first in 22.65.

    Velden topped the final results in the 50 back (25.17) and the 100 back (54.45) on the women’s side for the Seminoles.

    The Seminole women finished out the meet with a victory stamp in the 200 free relay. Nika Steigerwald (23.54), Hardman (23.00), McDade (22.43), and Velden (23.60) combined in a winning effort of 1:32.57.

    For Villanova, senior Katie White led the way in the 500 free, winning the event as the lone sub-5:00 swim on the day in 4:59.77.

    Junior Anna Farley also added a win for Villanova in the 100 fly, dominating the field by nearly two seconds, touching first in 53.58.

    Villanova freshman Emily Herr clocked the fastest 100 IM time in 57.97, just under three tenths of a second faster than teammate Meghan Tiernan in 58.26.

    Carlota Colomer Guasch added a runner-up finish for the Wildcats in the 50 free in 23.43. Winnie Jalet added another 2nd place finish in the 100 breast, clocking 1:01.89.

    Men’s Recap

    The Seminole men captured all 17 event victories. Sophomore Michel Arkhangelsky led the way for Florida State with three wins, including the 50 free in a season best 20.75, 50 back in 22.01, and the 100 free in 43.18.

    Florida State’s 200 medley relay of Max Wilson (22.17), Tommaso Baravelli (23.92), Arkhangelsky (20.09), and Sam Bork (20.00) combined for a meet-opening win in 1:26.18.

    Sophomore Fred Lindholm led the 1-2-3 finish for Florida State in the 1000 free, touching in 9:21.33.

    Mathias Christensen, a Florida State sophomore, earned a pair of wins on the day; his first came in the 200 fly, where he stormed to the wall in 1:45.65. He later added the 200 breaststroke in 1:57.84.

    Senior Jaka Pusnik took a pair of backstroke wins at home for the Seminoles, winning the 100 back in a season-best effort of 48.70, and the 200 back in 1:47.95.

    Bork clocked a winning time in the 50 free of 20.00, the same time as his anchor leg of the 200 medley relay to open the meet.

    Baravelli also picked up the individual 100 breast win for the Seminoles in 54.50. Senior teammate Marcos Egri-Martin also collected the 50 breast victory in 24.91.

    Florida State’s men finished their outing with a win in the 200 free relay; the foursome of Arkhangelsky, Tobias Schulrath, Andrew Rich, and Logan Robinson dominated the field in 1:19.55.

    Justin Nowicki led the way for Villanova in the 200 fly in 1:49.68, placing 3rd. Nowicki also finished 3rd in the 500 free in 4:37.83.

    Zach Sutter also earned a 3rd-place finish in 20.55 in the 50 free, placing 3rd overall. Wildcat freshman Quinn O’Mara earned a 3rd place finish of his own in the 200 back, touching in 1:54.64.
