Aleppo, Jan. 7 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday that reconnaissance battalions of the Syrian Arab Army detected the planting of explosives on main and side roads in Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, as well as the booby-trapping of numerous public and private objects in the streets by the SDF organization.
The administration said, “The SDF organization prevented hundreds of residents from leaving Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud by firing around them and terrorizing them”.
It added that the SDF organization continues to target neighborhoods of Aleppo city with mortar shells and heavy and medium machine-gun fire, causing additional losses among civilians and damage to public and private property, according to the ministry.
Earlier in the day, The Operations Command of the Syrian Arab Army declared the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods in Aleppo a “closed military zone” starting at 3:00 PM on Wednesday and urged civilians to stay away from SDF organization positions.
