"I had always wanted to be a member," she wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. "Back home and in country music, the epitome of success was to be on the Grand Ole Opry. To become a member was a big deal." Parton, who was just 23 at the time of becoming a member, was already a known country music artist at the time, however becoming a member at the Grand Ole Opry solidified her stardom in the genre's universe.
"I thought back to how I’d perform on my porch at my Tennessee mountain home, imagining that one day I was going to be on the Grand Ole Opry," she added. "By becoming an official member, I would forever be associated with the Opry. It was a dream come true. And it still is."

She also mentioned in her post that fans can learn more of her behind-the-scenes experiences with her book "Star of the Show: My Life on Stage" that was released in November.
But while the "9 to 5" singer may be looking back, and specifically feeling nostalgic this month, she has a ton to look forward to in 2026.
