On the Wednesday, Jan. 7 episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce discussed his plans for the off season and admitted that he'd play another season on one condition: If he feels up to it.
"It's a tough way to go out, especially with the amount of success and the standard that you hold," Kelce said of the 2025 season. This marks the first year in a decade that the Kansas City Chiefs won't be in the playoffs.
"It’s a s***** feeling. … It’s an embarrassing feeling, but you keep it moving," he said.
As for how Kelce plans on spending the next few weeks, he says, "just being a regular human for a couple weeks, maybe a month or so, trying to figure out what I'm gonna do next in terms of my future in football. And I think, you know, I've talked to a few people in the facility already, you know, having the exit meetings and everything, and, they know where I stand at least right now."
Kelce then through a curveball directly into the conversation.
"If my body can heal up and rest up and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18, 20, 21-week run, I think, I would do it in a heartbeat," he admitted, adding, "I'm just trying to figure it all out myself, and I'll do that with the family and friends."
Kelce has won three Super Bowl championships over the course of his 13 seasons in Kansas City. But it sounds like he may have one more season in him—one more run for greatness—and maybe, just maybe, he'll go out on a high note.
