Getting in shape. Working out more. Being more active
However you phrase it, it’s been a New Year’s resolution for just about every last one of us at some point.
Some ways of going about it are definitely more fun than others. But some of those others are definitely going to be a bit more effective.
So however you want to go about it, there’s an option for you. Here are just a few of the many ways to get active in 2026.
Greeley Recreation Center, 651 10th Ave.
If you’re looking for the classic New Year fitness experience, Greeley and the surrounding area have plenty of options, including the Greeley Rec Center.
Along with the standard fitness center, the rec center offers a climbing wall, multiple gyms, a pool and diving well, racquetball and more. The center also offers fitness classes and personal training.
The center is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Rates went up with the new year, and a day pass now costs $7. A month pass is $44 for an individual and $72 for a family. For more information, go to Greeleyco.gov.

Though typically catered toward children, Rogue Play offers people of all ages an opportunity to “jump, jump, jump, jump around” at the trampoline park.

Hatchet House: 820 9th St., Unit A, Greeley
Maybe the most unconventional option on the list, but tell me throwing axes and knives for a couple hours isn’t going to leave your shoulders and back at least a little sore the next day.
Though not quite as focused on self-improvement as some of the others, it’s all but sure to be more fun than most of its counterparts.
Do something different this Halloween by participating in glow-in-the-dark axe throwing at the Greeley Hatchet House and other fun and festive activities taking place around NoCo. (Greeley Tribune file photo)The Hatchet House is open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, from 4-11 p.m. Friday, from 2-11 p.m. Saturday and from 2-8 p.m. Sunday. It is open by reservation only on Monday and Tuesday.
To throw, it costs $25 per person for an hour and $35 per person for 90 minutes. For more information, go to GreeleyHatchetHouse.com.
