Haley Kalil Confirms Wrist Cast in Early Videos Was Due to Domestic Violence

Influencer Haley Kalil (a.k.a. Hayley Baylee) is opening up about her experience with domestic violence — and how her social media presence helped her escape an abusive ex.

“I’ve dealt, of course, as any girl has, with a lot of emotional abuse in relationships, cheating, all of that stuff. But no, one of my exes was physically abusive,” Kalil, 33, said during the Tuesday, January 6, episode of Amanda Hirsch’s “Not Skinny but Not Fat” podcast, revealing that she was in the abusive relationship when she posted her first viral TikTok video, a New York City apartment tour, in 2022.

“That’s what I was going through during the apartment tour,” she continued, “And that’s why, in my first [‘Billionaire Boyfriend’ video], I have a cast on my wrist because, yeah, domestic violence.” (Kalil’s apartment tour inspired her to make a fictional POV series where she pretended to be the stay-at-home girlfriend of a billionaire.)

Kalil said that she ultimately ended up filing domestic violence charges against her ex, whom she did not name on the podcast.

“And we’re good. I mean, he hasn’t come back into my life. I’m really grateful for that,” she said. “I hope, I honestly hope, and I say this truthfully, that I hope that the success I’ve had after that, that he sees, because he had a real hatred, I think, for women, just from his past [and] that he sees that he should treat women better because we’re capable of a lot more than he ever thought we were.”

Kalil called the relationship a “hard time” in her life and said she credits the women in the comments sections of her videos with helping her gain the courage to leave her ex.

“I credit them with saving my life. Completely and totally. Because I never felt seen by women,” she said, adding that the kind comments from fans led her to “decenter a man in my life who was doing horrible things to me.”

Haley’s apartment tour video came shortly after her divorce from ex-husband Matt Kalil, which was finalized in 2022. However, the social media personality has made it clear to fans that she isn’t referring to Matt, 36, in her videos discussing toxic exes or domestic violence.

“We were married for seven years, and he’s still one of my closest friends,” she said during a June 2024 episode of the “Post Run High” podcast. “Love him to death. He has a baby [and I’m] so happy for him.” (Following his divorce from Haley, Matt married model Keilani Asmus in 2024. The pair share one son.)

In November 2025, Haley opened up about why her marriage to the former NFL player ended, making headlines for the NSFW reason: the size of his manhood.

“[This happened] our whole marriage,” she said during a Twitch livestream. “I was going to try it all — therapists, doctors [and I] looked up lipo-type s***, you know what I mean? That’s why it’s kinda funny. It’s like my life is a comedy, and it kind of writes itself.”

Haley continued, “It was, like, he’s .01 percent of the population. We tried everything [and it was] impossible unless you’re going to be in tears.”

The TikToker later clarified that there was more to their divorce than problems in their sex life.

“I care deeply about respecting his privacy and the integrity of what we shared together,” she told TMZ Sports in a statement. “During [my] livestream, [I] talked about so much more than what’s being highlighted — the love in our marriage, the growth we experienced, the depth of our connection.”

Haley continued, “It’s unfortunate that only one fragment is being amplified because it doesn’t capture the full story of how meaningful things were to me. I hope [the] hour-and-half-long conversation reflects more than a funny soundbite.”
