NEW YORK — The New York State Police Benevolent Association expressed disappointment over a plea deal for its former president, Thomas Mungeer.
Mungeer pleaded guilty to felony grand larceny after admitting to stealing money from the union. Under the plea deal, he will be on interim probation for one year. If Mungeer completes his probation without issues, he will be allowed to withdraw his felony guilty plea and plead guilty to misdemeanor petit larceny instead.
“We are deeply disappointed that Mungeer will have an opportunity to plead guilty to a reduced charge and that his restitution neither will fully repay what he stole from our members, nor wipe away the reputational stain he left on our union,” said the Board of Directors for the State Police Benevolent Association.
