Amid the drama of Corriedale, there was a quieter, more sombre, moment for Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley).
The Emmerdale favourite was caught up with the drama of the crossover episode when he went on the hunt for evil John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).
Unfortunately, while John was arguing with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), a shotgun was fired, and caught Cain in the midriff.
Later in the episode, while Cain was recovering from the non-fatal shot, the doctor explained how they had found some cancer during the scan process.
Confirming the extent of the storyline and that Cain will have prostate cancer, producer Laura Shaw told press including RadioTimes.com: "The Dingle family are set to face huge repercussions [in the aftermath of CorrieDale] and Cain is at the centre of a major prostate cancer storyline spanning across 2026.
"Adding to their devastation, Moira will be arrested for human trafficking, with her arrest timed to coincide with her husband's diagnosis. Their complex marriage will be tested as they face dark times."
Fans will also recall Moira (Natalie J Robb) suffered with her own terrible diagnosis in 2025.
She was diagnosed with a meningioma, a non-cancerous brain tumour which affected her memory, personality changes, confusion, seizures and more.
Elsewhere in Emmerdale this year, fans can expect some fallout from the unexpected return of Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) back from the dead.
Plus, with both Bear (Joshua Richards), Ray (Joe Absolom) and John dead, there's going to be plenty of police suspicion on all the residents of Emmerdale...
