The Rookie Season 8 filmed in Prague for a brief stint, but not all the cast members were involved in the location shoot.
In the trailer for the new season, fans learn that Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Bailey (Jenna Dewan) are with Monica (Bridget Regan) in Prague. The Rookie Season 7 ended with Monica brokering a deal to help law enforcement catch some high-profile terrorists in exchange for immunity after she stole some national security secrets.

Melissa O’Neil (Chen) spoke with Hello magazine to reveal how she found out that she was not on the Prague production list. It turns out she didn’t even learn the information from production but rather a cast member’s significant other.
“This is a funny story. We didn't even know about Prague until we were all at Nathan's birthday party. Some of us were circled up with Mekia's husband and he says, 'Mekia is packing up, getting ready to go,’” revealed O’Neil, referring to her co-star Mekia Cox (Harper).
The actress went on to add, “We say, 'Where's she going?' and he tells us Prague for the show, and we said, 'What do you mean?' It was this hilarious moment.”
O’Neil isn’t bitter or upset about not being included in the Prague trip or about how she found out she didn’t make the cut. The actress took it all in stride and was thrilled for her friends, who got to do something pretty cool for the show.

“Those of us who were left behind cultivated a deep sense of camaraderie – and that's not nothing, I'll tell you that!” she expressed.
The Rookiefans are anxiously waiting for Season 8 to find out if Chen and Bradford (Eric Winter) finally get back together. In the Season 7 finale, Bradford asked Chen to move in with him, only to learn she had fallen asleep while he was talking to her.
O’Neil didn’t give away any spoilers on the Chenford front. However, in an interview with TV Line, the actress promised that fans will get answers early on in the new season regarding the future of Bradford and Chen.
The Rookie airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on ABC.
