Chick-fil-A has created a series of collectible cups to mark its 80th anniversary, to be released throughout 2026.
The first cup became available on Monday, Jan. 5. It costs $3.99 at participating restaurants.
It features a caricature of a rooster named Doodles, the Atlanta-based chain’s first mascot. Doodles was replaced by cows that can’t spell after Chick-fil-A launched its “Eat Mor Chikin” campaign in the mid-1990s. but a bird remains part of the chain’s logo and packaging.
The 32-ounce cups come with a lid, straw and a bookmark with Chick-fil-A trivia.
New cups will drop every few weeks, according to the Chick-fil-A app. Upcoming designs feature the chain’s 1967 logo; “Lemon Chicks” used to promote lemonade in the early 2000s; and cows with their “Eat Mor Chikin” signs.
Cups are sold in anniversary bags. Chick-fil-A will be randomly distributing 3,000 “Golden Fan Cups” among the others, according to a news release. Customers who get one can redeem a prize of free Chick-fil-A for a year. That means they qualify for 52 entrées at participating restaurants. The sweepstakes runs through July 1.
Also, a line of plush cows to be sold exclusively in restaurants will be rolled out throughout the year, the news release said.
Chick-fil-A added frosted sodas and floats to its menu on Monday. Frosted sodas feature the chain’s fountain drinks blended with its ice cream soft serve. Floats are fountain drinks dispensed over soft serve. Choices include Coca-Cola flavors, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Hi-C and Barq’s Root Beer.
Peppermint Chip Milkshake, the chain’s holiday beverage, ended its run on Jan. 3, although some locations may still be using up their inventories.
Chick-fil-A dates its history from 1946, when founder S. Truett Cathy opened a restaurant called the Dwarf Grill in Hapeville, Ga. That’s where he developed his recipe for a boneless chicken sandwich, according to Chick-fil-A’s website.
The first official Chick-fil-A opened in 1967 in Atlanta’s Greenbriar Mall, as is noted on the back of the Doodles cup.
Chick-fil-A pioneered the idea of fast food service in enclosed malls, according to the Georgia Historical Society. That’s how the chain entered the Southern California market in the early 1980s, in Santa Monica Place, Los Cerritos Center and Del Amo Fashion Center.
Jack in the Box is also marking a major milestone this year, its 75th anniversary. The San Diego chain will begin celebrating Tuesday, Jan. 6, with deals for its rewards members.
