Former LSU offensive lineman DJ Chester could be headed to a bitter SEC rival for the 2026 season.
Chester, who was a prize recruit from the 2023 recruiting cycle, has scheduled a transfer visit to Alabama for Thursday, his agency told CBS Sports on Tuesday morning.
The Georgia native made 14 career starts during his time with the Tigers, but he decided right after Christmas to head to the transfer portal instead of staying in Baton Rouge for Lane Kiffin‘s first season.

But this past season didn’t quite go as planned for Chester, who lost his starting center job. He was moved to left tackle in 2025, but Chester didn’t find the same success that he had as a center the season before. Chester started only one game this past fall and played in just 7 games, which was a precursor to him entering the portal.
Chester has Alabama on deck for a visit, but he apparently has a busy schedule coming up besides Bama.
According to a separate report by CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz last Friday morning, Chester was also planning transfer visits to two more SEC rivals in South Carolina and Mississippi State, and he also had visits in the works for Georgia Tech and Baylor.
But Alabama will reportedly be front and center for Chester on Thursday as he gets set for a grand tour to find out where he’ll end up playing this coming fall.
