Damascus, Jan. 6 (SANA) The Syrian Ministry of Economy and Industry signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday with the Aga Khan Development Network aimed at developing the industrial sector and strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors in Syria.
Under the MoU, signed by Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar and the network’s resident representative in Syria Ghatfan Ajoub, the ministry will provide studies, facilitation measures and relevant information to support projects implemented by the network in the country. The agreement seeks to promote sustainable industrial development and reinforce effective public-private partnership.
The MoU comes as the Aga Khan Development Network is implementing projects in the cities of Salamiya and Masyaf, including the establishment of a company for drying onions and vegetables in Salamiya, the investment of agricultural land, as well as the development of a cotton gin and a shoe factory. The projects are expected to support industrial and agricultural activity in those areas.
