— On3 (@On3sports) January 6, 2026Simmons played at Ole Miss for 2 seasons, largely as a backup quarterback. He backed up Jaxson Dart in 2024 and then took over as the Ole Miss starter to begin the 2025 season. However, an injury sidelined Simmons and he was not able to get the starting job back after Trinidad Chambliss led the Rebels to an 11-1 record.
In his brief college career so far, Simmons has thrown for 1,026 yards, 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.
Simmons will be replacing Beau Pribula, who entered the transfer portal last week after 1 season as Mizzou‘s starting quarterback. Simmons will give Eli Drinkwitz and his staff a much different look under center — while Pribula was more of a running quarterback, Simmons has high upside as a passer.
Simmons is also mobile. He’s recorded 85 yards and 1 touchdown on 27 carries in his college career.
Simmons will be back in Oxford on Oct. 17, 2026, when the Rebels host Mizzou. He’s expected to remain with Ole Miss as its backup quarterback through the duration of the College Football Playoff.
