Beirut, Jan. 6 (SANA) Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Tuesday condemned recent Israeli attacks targeting several areas of Lebanon, calling them a provocative act aimed at undermining regional and international efforts to halt the escalation of hostilities.
“These attacks raise serious questions, particularly in light of the upcoming meeting of the so-called ‘mechanism’ committee scheduled for Wednesday to halt hostilities,” Aoun was quoted by the Lebanese National News Agency as saying.
He criticized the ongoing Israeli strikes, which occurred despite Lebanon’s cooperation and the measures taken by the government in southern Lebanon. Aoun renewed his calls for the international community to act decisively to halt Israel’s violations and to enable the mechanism committee to carry out its mission.
