UNC Bears wrestler Dom Serrano, a senior from Windsor, won his weight class and was named the most outstanding wrestler at the prestigious Southern Scuffle on Sunday in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Serrano, a four-time Colorado state champion at Windsor, won all five of his matches at the two-day event capped by a 5-4 decision upset over Braxton Brown of Maryland in the 133-pound final.
Serrano came into the scuffle ranked 16th nationally at 133, according to the online platform FloWrestling. Brown was ranked 10th.

Serrano reached the scuffle final after beating unranked Max Leete of American University 8-5 in sudden-victory in a semifinal match.
UNC finished 16th as a team. Senior Mahonri Rushton lost in a consolation round match at 184 pounds.
Nationally ranked No. 1 Penn State won the team title with five of the 10 individual champions, scoring 143.5 points to 123.5 for the University of Pennsylvania in second place.
