2025 California SCAT Winter Age Group Invitational
Dec. 12-14, 2025 San Clemente, California SCY (25 yards) ResultsSeveral young swimmers moved up national rankings at the CA SCAT Winter Age Group Invitational, most notably 12-year-old Katherine McCrea of Aquazot Swim Club.
McCrea won six events, setting personal bests in five of them and enhancing her spot near the top of the national rankings in several events.
McCrea won the 50 free (24.49), 100 free (52.50), 200 free (1:56.70), 500 free (5:15.83) and 50 fly (27.24) in personal best times. She also won the 100 fly in 59.00.
In the 11-12 girls’ age group this season, McCrea is 2nd in the 100 free and 50 fly, 3rd in the 50 free, 5th in the 200 free, and 10th in both the 500 free and 100 fly. She also slots into 85th all-time in the girls’ 11-12 age group in the 100 free with her performance.
The team portion of the event was dominated by Irvine Novaquatics, which swept the girls’, boys’ and combined titles.
Other individual standouts:
Annabelle Hayes, an 11-year-old from Irvine Novaquatics, swam personal bests in four events in the girls’ competition, winning three of them. Hayes topped the field in the 50 back (28.59), 100 back (1:01.47) and 200 IM (2:11.79), and also swam a personal best time in the 200 free (1:59.99) to take 2nd in that event. Among 11-year-old girls this season, Hayes is 1st in the 200 IM, 3rd in the 200 back, and 4th in both the 50 back and 200 free. Another 11-year-old in the girls’ competition from Irvine Novaquatics, Grace Wang, swam a personal best time of 2:14.01 in the 200 IM to finish 2nd and a personal best time of 2:10.75 in the 200 fly to take 4th. Among 11-year-old girls this season, Wang is 2nd in the 200 fly and 3rd in the 200 IM. On the boys’ side, 12-year-old Nicholas Lacson of Aquazot Swim Club won six events, going off for personal bests in all of them. Lacson claimed the 50 free (23.67), 100 free (50.68), 50 back (27.20), 50 fly (25.26) and 100 fly (56.18) in personal best times. He also won the 100 IM in 58.50, but swam a personal best 58.47 in prelims. In the 11-12 boys’ age group this season, Lacson is 8th in the 100 IM, 10th in the 100 fly and 12th in the 100 free. Also in the boys’ competition, 11-year-old Jasper Ye of Aquazot Swim Club set personal best times in five events, winning two of them. Ye topped the field in the 500 free (5:11.97) and the 100 back in a time of 1:00.33, although his personal best came in prelims with a time of 1:00.31. Ye was also 2nd in the 100 fly (58.22), 3rd in the 100 IM (59.32) and 2nd in the 200 IM (2:08.31) in personal best times. Among 11-year-old boys’ this season, he is 3rd in the 500 free.Girls’ Team Standings — Top 5
