Nutri-Grain is betting that 2026 is the year shoppers start demanding a better crunch.
The brand, long associated with grab-and-go breakfast bars, is rolling out Nutri-Grain Crunchy, a crisp bar positioned as a new fiber and whole grain option.
Its debut flavors—Chocolate Chip Chia and Honey Oat Flax—will be available in select retailers starting in January. A nationwide rollout is expected by spring, according to a press release.
Eileen Flaherty-Yao, senior director of brand marketing at Mars, framed the new product as an update meant to feel familiar.
"Our goal with Nutri-Grain Crunchy was to bring something new to the aisle without losing what people already love about the brand," said Flaherty-Yao. "It's a fresh expression of Nutri-Grain's hard-working goodness — a crisp, flavorful bar designed to support the small but meaningful moments that carry people through the day."
According to the release, Nutri-Grain Crunchy is made with a blend of oats, barley, buckwheat, rye, and quinoa. The company stated the bars are Non-GMO, peanut-free, and made with no high fructose corn syrup and no artificial flavors or colors.
Each one contains at least 23 grams of whole grains, and are expected to sell for $4.49 for a 10-count box, the company said.
Fiber Is a Balance
As noted by Harvard Medical School, adults should be eating 14 grams of fiber for every 1,000 calories consumed. However, most eat less than half that amount, according to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020–2025.
At the same time, health experts have stated that while boosting fiber can be beneficial “fiber-first” processed products aren’t automatically equivalent to eating more natural fibers like beans, vegetables, or whole grains, reports the Associated Press.
In December 2025, Mars (the makers of Snickers, M&Ms, Twix, Dove, Skittles, Extra, Kind, and Nature's Bakery) announced it had completed its acquisition of Kellanova (Pringles, Cheez-It, Pop-Tarts, Rice Krispies Treats, RXBAR and Kellogg’s international cereal products).
The merger folded brands like Nutri-Grain bars, first introduced in the U.S. in January 1991, into Mars' snacking portfolio.
What Shoppers Should Watch For
