Jason Kelce has never been shy about sharing his sporting opinions, and the former Eagles center is speaking out once again about a "ridiculous"-looking sport that has been increasing in notoriety in recent months.
The podcast host retweeted the New Heights Senior Director of Social Media Jake Chatzky, who posted a video of a young girl participating in a hobby horsing show captioned “Send this to someone who should star hobbyhorsing in 2026” with a plea to “Please stop sending me this video ?.”
The nearly half-minute footage showed the girl galloping throughout an arena stocked with hurdles, expertly clearing each one under her own power.
The Pro Athlete Boldly Declared the 'Ridiculous'-Looking Sport to Require an Impressive Amount of Athleticism
Kelce had a rather strong opinion about the rising sport, acknowledging that it "looks ridiculous" before offering a counterpoint for his followers to consider: "...can we at least agree this shit is insanely athletic"?
I know it looks ridiculous, but can we at least agree this shit is insanely athletic t.co/bvbsPtn2S8
— Jason Kelce (@JasonKelce) January 2, 2026If you're unfamiliar with the concept, hobby horsing essentially involves all of the same aspects of a traditional horse show—just without the horse. Instead, competitors mount a horse head on a stick, and perform all of the jumps and other techniques themselves.
While participants take the sport incredibly seriously, with national championships held regularly, it has also sparked plenty of online ridicule, with Dance Moms-level drama-filled satirical skits, and it even captured a comical spotlight on this season of Grey's Anatomy.
Still, some of the professional athlete's followers agreed with his take, with one acknowledging "the insane core strength they’ll need to have."
"That’s some serious leap," another admitted.
Others disagreed, with one suggesting they may have "insane stamina," but "not athleticism."
"Somebody slip something in your garage beer?" another critic quipped.
"I’d respect it more if they didn’t have the horses tbh," someone else wrote, though Kelce pointed out that the horse heads likely increase the difficulty of the jumps.
Kelce Isn't the Biggest Fan of Some of the New-Fangled Sporting Events
He was a lot more forgiving of hobby horsing than he was of the real-life interpretation of Quidditch, the magical sport featured in the Harry Potter series. When ESPN featured a segment on the not-so-magical variation, the football star just about lost his mind over the "really weird" game and their "inappropriate" uniforms.
But, since leaving the NFL, he has picked up another sport himself that left some fans surprised: golf. In the wake of “[hanging] up the cleats,” Kelce took to the internet to ask for help from those more knowledgeable about the sport than he, revealing he was "trying to get serious about [his] golf game" as he searched for "some crowd-sourced wisdom."
