It may be a new year, but that doesn't stop Taylor Swift from breaking insane records.
Last year, the 36-year-old singer shattered multiple records, primarily thanks to her newest album, The Life of a Showgirl. When she released her twelfth studio album this past October, Swift became the first artist with 15 Billboard 200 No. 1s, achieved the biggest album debut in American history with over four million units sold, and dominated Spotify as the most-streamed album/song in a day, with all 12 songs being included in the platform's Top 50 playlist. In addition, she became the first female artist to surpass over 100 million RIAA-certified units.

On Friday, it was revealed by @SwiftyRuza, a popular X account dedicated to Swift that tracks her streams daily, that the "Shake It Off" singer became the first female artist in Spotify history to hit 116 billion streams. According to Chart Masters, Swift has over 116.8 billion listens across her 523 tracks, as of Thursday.
Swift currently tops Bad Bunny, Drake and The Weeknd, who have 101 billion, 97 billion and 76 billion streams, respectively. The second most-streamed female artist is currently Ariana Grande, who currently has over 60 billion listens on Spotify.

— Folk ⸆⸉ Swift Charts (@SwiftyRuza) January 2, 2026The singer-songwriter already rang in 2026 with a bang before these numbers were updated and announced. According to Pop Base on X, Swift was crowned the most-streamed female artist on Global Spotify on New Year's Day, and the closing track of her 2017 album reputation, "New Year's Day," earned 612K streams on Spotify on New Year's Day 2026, up 71%.
As usual, fans congratulated and expressed their excitement for Swift's accomplishment.
"Queen doesn’t chase records, they just follow her," a user commented on X.
Another wrote, "Taylor really kicked off 2026 in style," referring to her 2014 hit "Style" from her album 1989.
"Even at one point she had withdrawn all her music ….queen," a Swiftie commented. In November 2014, Swift famously pulled her entire music catalog from Spotify for almost three years, protesting the streaming service's model at the time, particularly its free tier, as undervaluing artists' work.
One fan commented, "YES QUEEN WE DID IT LETS KEEP STREAMING."
Another said, "taylor swift is killing the music game brosky."
One posted, "Still ringing in the year on top. ??," along with a meme from TikTok.
"At this point it’s just tradition," someone wrote.
