The country music star, 41, is on the cover of Men's Health magazine, officially debuting his new look after taking off a considerable amount of weight over the past couple of years.
The "Liar" singer once weighed over 500 pounds—540 to be exact—but has worked hard, incorporating a diet and exercise routine that he was able to stick to, even while on tour, and he made big things happen. Perhaps the most important thing is that he's healthy.
“Even before I got into getting my blood work done, I went and got mental health therapy about my overeating. I started treating my food addiction like what it was: an addiction," Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, told Men's Health. "Why did I treat cocaine a certain way? I went to meetings for cocaine and found a sponsor and detoxed off of it and shit myself and went through real hard life-changing emotional choices to get off cocaine and codeine. I didn’t look at the food addiction different. Once I started treating food like an addiction, it started changing everything for me. When I started really looking at the source of why I was eating. What was I eating for?"
In the photos published by Men's Health, Jelly Roll looks f-i-t. From weight lifting to boxing, he's done a little bit of everything to get himself right. And it's worked.
