My to-do list today includes creating a 2026 manifestation playlist, laundry, de-cluttering, an dmaking a chocolate chip cheesecake dip. But first, I need to get through the year’s first set of BN Bears Bullets.
We really closed 2025 with a bang, eh? I strongly encourage you to read Patrick’s final story of 2025:I took my sacks. Caleb Williams took his. Now, five seasons in, I finally get to cover a Bears team that rewards patience, growth, and trust — and it feels like the start of something real. The final story of the year at @BN_Bears: t.co/hhSMeVYzqW

One of my favorite things about writing about the Bears (and the NFL) is that there is always a story. There is always something happening. Whether it is locally or nationally, there is always something cooking. A storyline. A subplot. Subterfuge. Schadenfreude. Something. It reminds me of trying to follow my grandma’s telenovelas as a kid. There is always some sort of drama happening. With that being said, Kay Adams is right to underscore that Caleb Williams and the Bears were the NFL’s BEST story in 2025…Caleb Williams & the Chicago Bears are the BEST story in the NFL in 2025@ChicagoBears | @CALEBcsw | @heykayadams pic.twitter.com/zdcsr3REpY
— Up & Adams (@UpAndAdamsShow) December 31, 2025 … And yet, the story still has pages to be written. How many more pages? We don’t know. But that is the beauty of professional football. You can’t script this stuff, so you just have to tune in like everyone else. Some things I’d like to manifest for the Bears in 2026…
Better pressure rates and an uptick in sacks, tackles-for-loss, and quarterback hits for Chicago’s defensive line — especially defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. The Bears tossed a healthy chunk of change at Jarrett in the offseason. And while the veteran leadership is appreciated, the numbers (1 sack, 1 TFL, 1 quarterback hit) have been a disappointment. There is still time to turn it around. What better time than January 2026 to make it happen? Some better hands for Bears pass-catchers:#NFL Dropped Passes since Week 10 1. HOU 2.1%2. PIT 2.2%3. CLE 2.7%…32. CHI 11.2%Data: @FTNFantasy pic.twitter.com/JBSlFkzom6
— SFdata9ers?? (@sfdata9ers) December 31, 2025 That 11.2 percent drop rate is the highest in the league. And it helps capture the disconnect between our eyes seeing growth in quarterback Caleb Williams’ game and others who are simply looking at the raw numbers. Patrick is right: Stop Obsessing Over Caleb Williams’ Completion Percentage. It is cliché to manifest health in the new year. But with as many snaps as the Bears have lost due to the injury bug, I see no harm in trying to vibe our way to a healthy 2026. It would be nice to see cornerback Jaylon Johnson see a higher snap share. Getting fellow defensive back Kyler Gordon back after his latest IR stint would be swell, too. A clean bill of health for receivers Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III is also on my 2026 wish list. And, of course, continued health for quarterback Caleb Williams. If you thought I was going to get through this set of BN Bears Bullets without pointing out that President Kevin Warren failed to fulfill his promise of getting shovels in the ground in 2025, then you don’t know me as well as I thought you do. We’ll do some digging into the stadium stuff in a later post. But I gave Warren until 11:59:59 p.m. CT on Dec. 31, 2025 — and he still didn’t cash in on that promise. A new year provides a clean slate. I hope Warren takes advantage of it. Chicago Bears President Kevin Warren | © Daniel Bartel-Imagn Images Jeff Agrest shares the local TV ratings for the Bears-Niners game from Week 17: “The 49ers game on NBC 5 drew a preliminary household rating of 25.6 (~935K HHs), beating the Packers game Dec. 20 (25.4) for the Bears’ second-highest local rating of the season. The highest is 27.0 from the Packers game Dec. 7.” CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones reports (via Twitter/X) the Packers were the only team to place a waiver claim on cornerback Trevon Diggs. Looking at Pro Football Reference’s Trevon Diggs page had me notice that the 2022 Pro Bowl cornerback is allowing a 157.2 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the passer rating stat, a 158.3 grade is the best you can get. Broncos Head Coach on New Year’s Eve: “The most overrated holiday, honestly. Like, seriously, I didn’t even know it was New Year’s Eve.” (Awful Announcing)MORE BEARS FROM BLEACHER NATION: Go Ad-Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
